Left it late to a get a ticket for this, thanks Colm, but I'm glad I did. Must be 20 years since I saw Simple Minds live and this was a fantastic gig. I was one the floor off the Olypmia about 10 metres from the stage directly in line with Jim so this one turned out pretty damn good imho. I left out the set break for obvious reasons - tape ends with the band still on the stage saying their good byes but as the house music containing officially released material was already playing I had to cut this. No actual performance is missing. Charlie is a bit low in the mix - other people who were at the show commented on this so it wasn't just my hearing. Set 2 starts with The American so that's probably a good place for a disc split too.

After a two month break, the 'New Gold Dream tour' continued in the lowlands with dates across The Netherlands and Belgium.
"Dutch Daze" is a recording of one of these early gigs when the set-list was dominated by the current 'New Gold Dream' album with a scattering of early singles thrown in for good measure. Unfortunately despite the crisp, clear and even recording, "Dutch Daze" chose to drop several tracks from the Vereeniging gig, (namely "Colours Fly And Catherine Wheel","New Gold Dream (81,82,83,84)","Love Song" and "Sweat In Bullet") and instead substitute two tracks from a previous year. (These songs were probably from a different source than the "Life In A Day" CD bootleg, which covers the same concert, as this recording is much sharper and clearer.) This odd choice meant two helpings of "King Is White And In The Crowd" from different concerts which neatly bookend the CD but was not what the band ever performed.

So here is the full soundboard from the golden "Simple Minds" era of this fantastic gig! The shorter version of this concert called "Up all night" has been famously shared here before........ but with only 8 tracks............. This one seems to be the final cut with the highest quality! In addition, there was a gap on "Speed your love to me/'C' moon cry like a baby" from 4'48"650 to 4'53"380 on the left channnel.
This gap has been fully repaired and corrected using "Digital Music Audio". This explaining Track 00 in its raw recording!
